What a busy couple weeks it has been! With graduating, working, and volunteering there has not been much time for anything else. Fortunately I had the opportunity of being interviewed by Peter Verge and Bianca Solterbeck on “That Talk Show” that airs on Shaw TV. “That Talk Show” is a brand new TV show that showcases the best in our community. It was a
load of fun on the show, and I was able to talk about my platform, sexism and inequality in sports. I love being able to have the opportunity to talk about my platform at any chance I may have. Bianca and Peter were both so lovely and nice genuine people it was a pleasure to talk to them. They are also very impressive individuals. Bianca is a Leo Award nominated writer and producer for Shaw TV, and Peter worked in social services for 6 years helping others. WOW! Peter and Bianca also mentioned a paper that I wrote during the interview here is a link to it for those who wish to read it: sexism and inequality in sports paper.
For anyone who has not seen the interview yet here is a link to it on YouTube! Leave me a comment below to let me know what you thought of it. Link to Kayla’s Interview on That Talk Show
While I was in the waiting room of “That Talk Show” a man sat down beside me. What is so important about this man? He was none other than BOB(ROBERT) LENARDUZZI! For those of you who don’t yet know of this man, he is the President of The Vancouver
Whitecaps, B.C.’s MSL team, as well as a North American Soccer League star, Canadian International, and coach of the Canadian National and Olympic men’s soccer teams. As if all these accomplishments were not enough he is also a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame, and was voted one of the Top 30 Players of the Century in the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football region.
As a huge soccer fan it was an honour to be able to talk to Mr. Lenarduzzi about the Women’s FIFA Soccer Tournament held in Canada this year, as well as the sport in my own family. He predicted the outcome of the final game between Japan and USA on “That Talk Show” and was correct!
If you or anyone you know has a story that you think should be covered on “That Talk Show” don’t hesitate to contact their producer! Contact details can be found on their Facebook page.
And just a friendly reminder to wear sunscreen in those sunny rays!
